Praslin & La Digue

Where to stay on La Digue

Most accommodation on La Digue is on the west coast, around the jetty at La Passe and L'Union Estate at Anse Réunion. The north has hotels near Anse Sévère and Anse Patates, and the east coast is wilder and further by bike.

Last verified 16 September 2026

The numbers

On 16 September 2026 the tourism board's website listed 89 places to stay on La Digue: 51 self-catering, 28 guesthouses and 10 hotels, with none classed as resorts. It filed 46 under Anse Réunion or La Réunion, 26 under La Passe and 17 under La Digue without a locality. The tourism board notes that most hotels are on the west coast.

La Passe

Ferries arrive at the jetty in La Passe, and seven of the eight bike hire businesses on the tourism board's listings are here. Le Nautique Luxury Waterfront Hotel sits on the waterfront and offers guests a golf buggy transfer from the jetty. The tourism board's family beach guide notes that Anse Sévère, just north, is close to La Passe.

Base yourself here to keep ferry days and bike hire simple.

Anse Réunion

Anse Réunion is home to L'Union Estate, the way to Anse Source d'Argent, and the Veuve Special Reserve. La Digue Island Lodge, built in 1973 as the island's first hotel, sits on the beach here. The hotel describes Anse Réunion as home to the Colonial Yellow House, a national monument. The tourism board describes the beach at Anse Réunion as calm with shallow entry and close to family hotels, shops and cafes.

Base yourself here to be close to Anse Source d'Argent.

The north: Anse Sévère and Anse Patates

Le Domaine de L'Orangeraie gives its address as Anse Sévère, where the tourism board describes shallow water, reef snorkelling and sunsets over Praslin. Anse Patates, at the northern tip, is close to Patatran Village, with calm water and the road close by.

The east coast

The tourism board describes La Digue's east coast as wilder. Grand Anse is about a 40-minute bike ride from the harbour, with deep water and rough seas in the south-east monsoon.

How to choose

  • Getting about: bicycles are the main transport. Under the 2022 transport policy, bicycles must be licensed and insured and e-bike riders must wear helmets. Amendments approved in March 2024 limit e-bikes to 300 W, bar riders under 16 and require helmets for children under 14 on bicycles.
  • Luggage: ask your accommodation about transfers from the jetty, since taxis are limited.
  • Season: UK government travel advice (checked 16 September 2026) says west coasts are generally unsafe for swimming around December to March.
