La Passe
La Passe is the village around La Digue's jetty, on the west coast, where ferries from Praslin and Mahé arrive and bike hire shops are based. The north-coast beaches of Anse Sévère and Anse Patates are close by.
La Passe
La Passe is the village around La Digue's jetty, where most visitors arrive by boat. Together with Anse Réunion, it is where most of the island's residents live. Cat Cocos ferries take 15 minutes from Praslin, 1 hour 10 minutes direct from Mahé, or 1 hour 45 minutes via Praslin.
Getting moving
A 2019 Seychelles News Agency guide listed bike hire shops in La Passe and said that guesthouses and hotels also lend bikes to guests. It also found that ox carts usually waited by the jetty, although the tourism board noted in 2025 that one ox cart remains, used mainly for weddings. Under the 2022 transport policy, bicycles must be licensed and insured and e-bike riders must wear helmets. Amendments approved in March 2024 limit e-bikes to 300 W, bar riders under 16 and require helmets for children under 14 on bicycles.
Staying here
The tourism board says most of La Digue's hotels are on the west coast. On 16 September 2026, 26 of its 89 La Digue accommodation listings were filed under La Passe.
Beaches to the north
Anse Sévère faces Praslin and is known for sunsets, with shallow water and a reef for snorkelling. Anse Patates, at the island's northern tip, has calm water for swimming and snorkelling close to the shore, plenty of shade, and sits near the road.
