Praslin to La Digue by ferry

The crossing at a glance

Praslin and La Digue are a 15-minute boat ride apart. Two companies sail the route: Cat Cocos, run by Inter Island Boats Ltd, which also connects both islands with Mahé, and Cat Rose, run by the Praslin-based family business Inter Island Ferry Pty Ltd.

Where the boats leave from

On Praslin, both operators use the ERO passenger terminal at the jetty in Baie Sainte Anne, on the east coast. Seychellesbookings places it at the junction of the Vallée de Mai and Baie Sainte Anne roads. On La Digue, boats arrive at the jetty in La Passe, the island's main village. Cat Cocos has sales offices at both jetties, and the Cat Rose check-in desk on La Digue is in the Seychelles Port Building in La Passe.

If you are coming from Praslin Island Airport at Grand Anse, SeyFerry puts the taxi ride to the harbour at 15 to 20 minutes. SeyFerry also sells shared minibus transfers between Praslin hotels and the jetty.

How often the ferries run

The combined timetable published by SeyFerry (checked 16 September 2026), valid until 31 December 2027, shows Cat Rose and Cat Cocos departures between early morning and early evening, with six to nine sailings a day depending on the direction and the day of the week. Cat Cocos's own 2026–2027 schedule accounts for one to three of those a day on its boats. On that timetable the last boat from La Digue to Praslin leaves at 17:00 every day. Timetables change, so check the operator's current timetable before you plan a day trip.

SeyFerry says Cat Rose will usually wait for booked passengers heading to La Digue if the Cat Cocos ferry from Mahé is running late. Allow extra time if you are connecting between operators.

The boats

Cat Cocos catamarans have three classes: an air-conditioned economy cabin (Coco de Mer), an outdoor premium economy area (Island Hopper) and a business lounge (Lazio Lounge). SeyFerry says Cat Rose has no booking classes; you choose a seat in the air-conditioned lower cabin or on the open upper deck.

Tickets and check-in

Cat Cocos sells tickets through its online booking system and at its jetty offices. Its terms say e-tickets can be printed or shown on a phone for check-in, though it warns that a screenshot may not work. Passengers should be at the jetty 30 minutes before departure with valid ID, and checked luggage is registered an hour before.

Cat Rose tickets are sold by agents including SeyFerry and Seychellesbookings. Both say to check in at least 30 minutes before departure, and both recommend a printed ticket voucher; Seychellesbookings says Cat Rose does not accept e-tickets displayed on a phone and notes there is no Wi-Fi at the jetty.

Luggage

Cat Cocos allows non-residents 25 kg of free luggage in economy and 30 kg in business, with no single case over 32 kg and hand luggage under 7 kg. For Cat Rose the agents disagree: SeyFerry quotes 23 kg plus hand luggage, while Seychellesbookings quotes one checked piece of up to 30 kg plus a small hand-held bag. Confirm the allowance when you book if you are carrying a lot.

SeyFerry (checked 16 September 2026) lists a bicycle charge of SCR 100 per bike per trip, paid on site, under its Cat Cocos luggage rules; it gives no bicycle charge for Cat Rose.

Weather

Cat Cocos reserves the right not to sail in weather that could threaten safety, and offers a free change to a later departure when that happens.
