Plan your trip to Praslin and La Digue

Getting there

International flights arrive at Seychelles International Airport on Mahé. From there, Air Seychelles flies to Praslin in 15 minutes, and Cat Cocos ferries take 1 hour 15 minutes to Praslin and 1 hour 10 minutes direct to La Digue. La Digue has no airport, and the crossing from Praslin takes 15 minutes.

When to go

The Seychelles Meteorological Authority describes a rainy north-west monsoon from December to March, a calm changeover in April, windier south-east trades from May to September and a second changeover in October and November. The season decides which coasts are pleasant for swimming.

How long to stay

The tourism board suggests 10 to 14 days in Seychelles, with about three days on Praslin and two to three nights on La Digue.

Getting around

On Praslin, the Seychelles Public Transport Corporation runs public buses, fares are paid with an SPTC travel card or by QR code in the SPTC app, and car hire is available, with driving on the left. On La Digue, bicycles are the main transport. Under the 2022 transport policy, bicycles must be licensed and insured and e-bike riders must wear helmets. Amendments approved in March 2024 limit e-bikes to 300 W, bar riders under 16 and require helmets for children under 14 on bicycles.

Staying safe

UK government travel advice (checked 16 September 2026) notes that there are few lifeguards, that beach conditions change with the seasons, and that you should make sure life jackets are provided on smaller excursion boats.
