Anse Réunion

Anse Réunion is a long, narrow, reef-protected beach on La Digue's west coast, between La Passe and L'Union Estate, lined with guesthouses and small hotels. The water is shallow and calm at both tides, sunsets are over Praslin, and access is from the coast road.

What it is

Anse Réunion stretches for about a kilometre down La Digue's west coast, south of La Passe and north of L'Union Estate. The coast road runs parallel to the sand, and a number of guesthouses and small hotels sit along it. SeyVillas notes that being close to these places means there are usually people on the beach.

Getting there

No entry fee is listed, and it is close to several places to stay. Walk, cycle from the jetty at La Passe, or take a taxi; SeyVillas mentions several places to leave bikes and taxi drop-off points near the hotels. Continue south along the road and you reach the L'Union Estate entrance for Anse Source d'Argent.

The water

A coral reef protects the beach. SeyVillas describes shallow water at both low and high tide, a calm sea and small waves, and suggests bathing at low tide and swimming at high tide. SeyVillas describes it as perfect for families.

Sunsets and snorkelling

The beach faces west towards Praslin, so evenings bring the sun down behind the neighbouring island. SeyVillas rates the reef-protected water for snorkelling and mentions snorkel rental on the beach; its page is undated and no official source confirms the rental.

Practicalities

Shops and restaurants line the road behind the beach, and natural shade is easy to find. Stretches in front of guesthouses are busier; walk a little and the sand empties out.

No. Anse Réunion is the long free beach along the road north of L'Union Estate. Anse Source d'Argent is further south, inside the estate, and has an entry fee.
