Anse Grosse Roche Beach Villa

Anse Grosse Roche Beach Villa is a small self-catering guesthouse on the north-east coast of La Digue, well away from the bustle of La Passe. Only a road, used mostly by bicycles, separates it from Anse Grosse Roche, a beach named after the large granite rock at its northern end. The owners point to views across to Marianne and Félicité islands.

There are four units. The Beach Villa sits in the front row, the Garden Villa is on the ground floor for guests who prefer no stairs, and the Sea Villa has the best sea view from its veranda. The Family Villa is a standalone two-bedroom bungalow. Each has air conditioning, its own bathroom with a walk-in shower, a fully equipped kitchen and a balcony or terrace.

The tourism board gives the property a Seychelles Secrets Silver rating and Sustainable Seychelles Silver recognition. The owners leave fresh fruit, homemade jam and coconuts in the rooms, and offer a free breakfast to late-night arrivals.

The owners say the three one-bedroom villas suit couples and the Family Villa suits families or groups of friends.

The owners' booking engine lists the Beach, Garden and Sea Villas at 30 m² each for up to three guests with one double bed, and the Family Villa at 50 m² for up to four with one double and two single beds. Each unit has air conditioning (the Family Villa has two air-conditioned bedrooms), its own bathroom with a walk-in shower, living room with cable flat-screen TV, fully equipped kitchen with microwave and toaster, minibar, safe, hairdryer and tea and coffee facilities.

Free wifi in the rooms, beach towels, and bicycle hire at extra cost (owners). SeyVillas adds a barbecue, sun loungers and a security system. Card payments (Mastercard, Visa, UnionPay) are listed by the tourism board.

Self-catering; there is no breakfast service except a complimentary breakfast for late-night arrivals (tourism board). Fresh fruit, homemade jam, water and coconuts are left in the rooms. The owners say a small shop is next door; the supermarket is in La Passe.

Anse Grosse Roche is across the road from the villas. SeyVillas says Anse Gaulettes is a few minutes' walk away and Anse Banane about 700 m.

The owners put La Passe, with the jetty and the nearest supermarket, about 20 minutes away by bicycle; there is only a mini-market next door. Rooms are serviced every two to three days rather than daily. Breakfast is not offered, apart from a complimentary one for late-night arrivals.
