Anse Takamaka

The beach below Raffles Seychelles on Praslin's north-east coast, open to the public along a beach promenade, with shade and seaweed cleared by the resort. Raffles sells day passes from EUR 100 an adult for pool and beach access between 8am and 7pm (raffles.com, checked 20 September 2026). The water is inside the Curieuse Marine National Park, where taking marine life and using a surfboard or water-ski are offences. Praslin has a second Anse Takamaka in the south, so check which one a description means.

Which Anse Takamaka

This Anse Takamaka is the bay on Praslin's north-east coast between Anse Boudin and Baie Pasquière, with Raffles Seychelles on the hillside behind it. The resort gives its address as Anse Takamaka, Praslin, and places itself on the north shore of the island. The OpenStreetMap outline of the beach measures about 340 m between its furthest points in a straight line. The name is used more than once on the island: OpenStreetMap marks an Anse Takamaka on the south coast, SeyVillas places one beside Anse Citron in the south-west, and Le Vasseur Eco Resort, whose address is also Anse Takamaka, is mapped about 6.5 km east-south-east of this beach in a straight line.

Getting there

seychelles.cc says the beach is open to the public despite the resort and is reached along a beach promenade. The nearest SPTC stop mapped on OpenStreetMap is Pasquerre Beach, about 700 m away in a straight line and tagged as part of routes 61 and 62; a second pair of stops, Jardin Beach, is about 780 m away, and the nearest mapped car park about 1.1 km (20 September 2026). SPTC publishes no Praslin timetable, its August 2026 downloads covering Mahé routes only, but it sells a Visitor Travel Card for unlimited bus travel on Mahé and Praslin from SCR 100 or EUR 5 for a day (sptc.sc, 20 September 2026). Praslin Island Airport is about 3.4 km away in a straight line.

Sunbeds, shade and the day pass

Sunbeds and parasols belong to the hotel, and seychelles.cc says there is a good deal of shade and that the beach is cleared of seaweed regularly as the Raffles house beach. Non-residents can buy a day pass: EUR 100 an adult and EUR 50 a child aged 4 to 12 for the pool, beach and spa pass, or EUR 220 an adult for the retreat that adds the steam room and sauna. Both run from 8am to 7pm, include a sunbed, towel and water, and are redeemable in full as credit against food, drink and spa treatments; reservations are on +248 429 6000 (raffles.com, 20 September 2026). The resort has 87 pool villas on the hillside and moves guests about on hybrid-powered buggies.

The marine park

The water in front of the beach lies inside the Curieuse Marine National Park. The designation order of 11 June 1979 (S.I. 55 of 1979) runs the park boundary along the coast of Pointe Zanquilles, Anse Petit Cour, Anse Possession, Baie Pasquière, Anse Takamaka and Anse Boudin, and the Seychelles Parks and Gardens Authority says the boundaries enclose the whole of Curieuse and the entire channel between Curieuse and Praslin, including St Pierre and Chauve Souris. Under the park regulations (S.I. 15 of 1991) it is an offence carrying a fine of R2,000 and imprisonment to take or disturb any animal, eggs or shells, to damage plants or to remove sand or rock; using a surfboard or water-ski inside the park is a separate offence, as is anchoring in a way that damages coral. SPGA lists the Curieuse entry fee as Rs300 for non-residents above 12, sold online, by rangers on card devices or at its main office, and says all non-residents entering a marine national park must hold a valid ticket; it describes the park as reached by boat, about 20 minutes from the Côte d'Or, and does not say how the ticket rule applies to a swimmer entering from a Praslin beach. Its park page gives 9am to 5pm seven days a week, its visitor information page 8am to 5pm daily.

Seasons

The Seychelles Meteorological Authority's climate guide puts the south-east trades from May to October, at their peak in August with rough seas, and light winds in April and November; between June and September, it says, the beaches exposed to those winds collect weed while the west and north-west coasts are more pleasant. The UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office says there are not many lifeguards in Seychelles and that beaches do not always have safety information.

Nearby

Anse Boudin, about 780 m away in a straight line, is where seychelles.cc starts the walk over the steep hill to Anse Lazio; Palmier Bistro on its shore opens Tuesday to Sunday 11:59 to 22:00 and closes on Monday (tourism board listing, record updated 28 January 2026). PK's @ Pasquière Restaurant & Pub is mapped about 490 m from the beach and a convenience shop about 870 m. SeyVillas says Raffles maintains the Pasquière trail, which splits near the hotel and climbs over the hills to Grand Anse in about 90 minutes one way.

The nearest SPTC bus stop mapped on OpenStreetMap is Pasquerre Beach, about 700 m away in a straight line and tagged as part of routes 61 and 62; the Jardin Beach stops are about 780 m away and the nearest mapped car park about 1.1 km (20 September 2026). SPTC publishes no Praslin timetable; its Visitor Travel Card covers unlimited travel on standard buses on Mahé and Praslin at SCR 100 or EUR 5 for one day, SCR 198 or EUR 12 for four consecutive days and SCR 363 or EUR 22 for eight (sptc.sc, 20 September 2026). Praslin Island Airport is about 3.4 km away in a straight line. The Pasquière trail, maintained by Raffles according to SeyVillas, passes near the hotel and links to Grand Anse (about 90 minutes one way).

Non-residents can buy a Raffles day pass: the Pool, Beach & Spa Day Pass at EUR 100 for adults, EUR 50 for children aged 4 to 12 and free under 4, or the Spa, Dining & Day Retreat at EUR 220 for adults, EUR 60 for children aged 4 to 12 and EUR 180 for a child with spa access. Both cover pool and beach access from 8am to 7pm with a sunbed, towel and water, and their full value is redeemable against food, drink and spa treatments; the retreat adds the steam room and sauna. Reservations +248 429 6000 (raffles.com, 20 September 2026). The resort's restaurants and bars are Curieuse, Losean, The Sushi Room, the Pool Restaurant & Bar and Danzil Bar & Lounge. Away from the resort, OpenStreetMap maps PK's @ Pasquière Restaurant & Pub about 490 m from the beach and a convenience shop about 870 m, both in a straight line; no public toilet or shower is mapped near the beach (20 September 2026).

Snorkelling

The water off the beach is inside the Curieuse Marine National Park, where the 1991 regulations make it an offence to take or disturb animals, eggs or shells, plants, sand or rock. SPGA describes the park's coral reefs and granite formations, and gives its entry fee as Rs300 for non-residents above 12. SeyVillas names the islet of St Pierre, in the middle of the park, as a snorkelling and diving point a few minutes by boat from the Côte d'Or, and its picks for shore snorkelling on Praslin are Anse Lazio and Anse Boudin. No source consulted describes the snorkelling directly off Anse Takamaka.
