A reef-protected bay on Praslin's north-east coast facing Curieuse, with shallow water and a drop-off about 300 m out. Guesthouses and fishing boats gather at the east end; the west end is quieter. Easy roadside parking.

The beach

Anse Possession sits between Anse Pasquière and Anse Petite Cour on Praslin's north-east coast, looking across to Curieuse, about 2.2 km offshore in a straight line from the mapped shoreline. SeyVillas gives its length as around 500 m. Its shoreline forms part of the southern boundary of the Curieuse Marine National Park: the park's 1979 designation order names Anse Possession in the run of coast the boundary follows.

Getting there

The road runs beside the beach - about 4 m from the sand at the closest point - with plenty of roadside parking, according to SeyVillas; no car park is mapped here (OpenStreetMap, checked 20 September 2026). A bus stop called Anse Possession stands about 3 m from the sand and another called Pasquerre Beach about 40 m, each with a platform on both sides of the road, and OpenStreetMap's mapping of SPTC routes 61 (Mont Plaisir via Vallée de Mai) and 62 (Mont Plaisir via Consolation) runs both through them in both directions, the relations last edited 2 December 2025. SPTC publishes timetables for Mahé routes only, so confirm Praslin times locally; its visitor travel cards start at SCR 100 for a day (SPTC, checked 20 September 2026), and the UK FCDO says most public buses do not run after 20:00 (updated 21 January 2026).

Small guesthouses and self-catering places cluster at the east end, and several serve dinner on request. The Pasquière trail from Grand Anse also comes out here: the mapped track meets the coast about 45 m from the beach and is tagged as passable by car at that end, becoming a rough path further inland (OpenStreetMap ways 27540107 and 61221546, last edited November 2021).

What is there

Le Studio Cafe Gallery & Restaurant stands at Pasquière on the shore of the bay, showing the photographs of Paul Turcotte and serving lunch and dinner to a limited number of tables, so book a table; it opens Monday 14:00 to 22:00, Thursday and Friday 16:00 to 22:00 and Saturday and Sunday 12:00 to 22:00, and closes Tuesday and Wednesday (Tourism Seychelles listing, updated 15 September 2026, checked 20 September 2026). Chalets Anse Possession is on the beach, listed at SCR 2,000 to 2,500 a night (Tourism Seychelles, updated 30 September 2025). No public toilets, showers or drinking water are mapped at the beach (OpenStreetMap, checked 20 September 2026).

In the water

Coral reef keeps the surface calm, and SeyVillas puts the drop-off about 300 m from shore, which makes the bay suitable for families; Tourism Seychelles calls it family-friendly and protected by coral ridges on all sides. The OpenStreetMap node for the bay carries the comment "no swimming", added on 3 May 2017, so the sources do not agree - take local advice on the day. SeyVillas advises watching for stingrays early in the morning; Tourism Seychelles' Beach and Sea Safety Guide says stingrays hide under the sea floor, particularly in reef areas, and advises against touching the seabed when snorkelling. In bad weather the tide can cover the beach and waves can reach the road; the Seychelles Meteorological Authority's September 2026 tide table gives low waters of 0.4 m to 1.0 m and high waters of 1.0 m to 2.0 m. Seaweed tends to appear after heavy rain and during the north-west trade winds. There is no lifeguard: Tourism Seychelles states that lifeguards are stationed at Beau Vallon, Anse Lazio and Côte d'Or only.

Crowds

Local fishermen work from the busier east end. SeyVillas suggests the west end for a quieter day.

Park rules

Regulation 5 of the Beach Control Regulations bars motor boats and water-skiing within 400 feet of the seashore except in a marked lane. Under regulation 3 of the 1991 Curieuse Marine National Park regulations, taking or disturbing any animal, its eggs or shells, disturbing or removing any plant, or removing sand, soil or rock carries a fine of R 2,000 and twelve months' imprisonment.
