Anse Pasquière

Anse Pasquière is a very shallow bay on Praslin's north-east coast between Anse Boudin and Anse Possession, too shallow for swimming but good for spotting herons and fish on the sandbanks at low tide. It lies on the Curieuse Marine National Park boundary, with parking bays cut into the forest and bus stops nearby.

The beach

Anse Pasquière lies on Praslin's north-east coast between Anse Boudin and Anse Possession, looking out to Curieuse. The official park designation calls the bay Baie Pasquière and runs the Curieuse Marine National Park boundary along its shore. OpenStreetMap marks the bay with a single node (1413265085, placed 26 August 2011) and draws no beach outline here, so there is no mapped measurement of its length; the nearest mapped sand is Anse Possession about 480 m to the south-east and Anse Takamaka about 610 m to the north-west (ways 190429139 and 115794712).

Getting there

Parking spaces are cut into the forest beside the road and bus stops line it, says SeyVillas, and some hotels are within walking distance. The nearest stops mapped are the Pasquerre Beach pair, about 520 m from the bay node, on SPTC routes 61 "Mont Plaisir via Vallee De Mai" and 62 "Mont Plaisir via Consolation"; the Anse Possession stops about 720 m away are on the same two routes and were re-surveyed on 10 November 2025 with no shelter, bench or bin. No car park and no toilets are mapped within a kilometre, and SPTC publishes no Praslin timetable, its August 2026 download covering Mahé routes only (sptc.sc, 20 September 2026). Inland, OpenStreetMap maps the Pasquière Track in two parts: about 420 m of grade 3 track open to cars and about 780 m of grade 5 path closed to them (ways 27540107 and 61221546).

In the water

The water is too shallow for swimming. SeyVillas says it is safe for families and suits snorkelling, and local families come for weekend picnics. Tourism Seychelles calls the low water not ideal for swimming, describes the bay as a biodiversity hotspot and says it can be visited in any season (record updated 29 September 2024).

Wildlife and the marine park

The western end draws fish and birds, including grey herons and green-backed herons feeding in the shallows. Sandbanks appear at low tide, which is the easiest time to watch them, and SeyVillas says anglers use the banks for fly-fishing then. The designation order of 11 June 1979 (S.I. 55 of 1979) runs the park boundary "along the coast of Pointe Zanquilles, Anse Petit Cour, Anse Possession, Baie Pasquiere, Anse Takamaka, Anse Boudin", and the Seychelles Parks and Gardens Authority says the boundaries enclose the whole of Curieuse and the entire channel between Curieuse and Praslin, including St Pierre and Chauve Souris. Under the 1991 park regulations (S.I. 15 of 1991) it is an offence carrying a fine of R2,000 and imprisonment to kill, take or disturb any animal, its eggs or shells, to disturb or remove any plant, or to remove sand, soil, gravel or rock; using a surfboard or water-ski inside the park is a separate offence, as is anchoring in a way that damages coral. SPGA puts the Curieuse entry fee at Rs300 for non-residents above 12, payable by card online or to rangers on site, and says every non-resident entering a marine national park must hold a valid ticket. Its Curieuse page gives 9am to 5pm seven days a week; its visitor information page gives 8am to 5pm daily (spga.gov.sc, both checked 20 September 2026).

Le Studio Cafe Gallery, about 490 m away, is listed by Tourism Seychelles at Pasquière overlooking the bay towards Curieuse: Paul Turcotte's photographs of Seychelles from the early 1980s on, locally made craft, and lunch and dinner a la carte for a limited number of covers, so a table is best booked (record updated 15 September 2026). Raffles Seychelles is about 750 m away, Mariella's grocery and boutique about 990 m, mapped as open Tuesday to Sunday 10:00 to 19:30, and PK's @ Pasquière Restaurant & Pub about 1 km, the name as OpenStreetMap has it (node 2820278320).

Swimming

Very shallow water, too shallow to swim in, with very high and low tides and sandbanks exposed at low tide (SeyVillas); Tourism Seychelles also says the low water is not ideal for swimming. The bay is on the Curieuse Marine National Park boundary, and under the 1991 regulations it is an offence, carrying a fine of R2,000 and imprisonment, to kill, take or disturb any animal, its eggs or shells, to disturb or remove any plant, or to remove sand, soil, gravel or rock; using a surfboard or water-ski inside the park is a separate offence (S.I. 15 of 1991). The UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office says beaches can be safe for swimming at some times of the year and dangerous at others, that there are not many lifeguards and that beaches do not always carry safety information (checked 20 September 2026).

Snorkelling

SeyVillas describes the bay as suited to snorkelling despite the shallow water.
