Anse Bateau
A roadside beach on Praslin's south coast with granite formations and views of Mahé, Cousin and Cousine. The water is very shallow over sand and mud, so not for swimming; weed from May to September, a quarry mapped about 540 m inland, and route 62 stops about 290 m away.

The beach
Anse Bateau lies on Praslin's south coast beside the coastal road, between Anse Citron about 900 m up the coast and Anse St Sauveur about 900 m east-south-east, both in a straight line. SeyVillas puts it at about 600 m long, says it rarely has other visitors, and describes granite formations on the sand and views across to Mahé, Cousin and Cousine; OpenStreetMap puts Cousin about 7.1 km west-north-west (way 27576586). The map names the bay but not the sand, and marks cliffs on the rock either side of it (node 1413265009, ways 301663913 and 301663915).
Getting there
An SPTC stop named Bodamien Pointe is mapped about 290 m from the bay node, and one named Yassad Apartment about 560 m, both on route 62, "Mont Plaisir via Consolation", which runs between Zimbabwe and Mont Plaisir (nodes 9257945055 and 9257945056, last edited 11 June 2022; relation 13449330, last edited 2 December 2025). Both are tagged without shelter, bench, bin or lighting, so there is nowhere to wait out of the sun. SPTC's timetable downloads cover Mahé routes only (sptc.sc, 20 September 2026), so check departure times locally.
By car it is roadside parking, with no car park mapped within a kilometre. Driving or parking on the beach itself is an offence without the written consent of the Commissioner of Police, under regulation 19 of the Beach Control Regulations.
The quarry
SeyVillas says a nearby rock quarry can make the beach noisy. OpenStreetMap maps a quarry called UCPS about 540 m inland to the north, between Anse Bateau and Anse Citron (way 1042562638, last edited 22 March 2022); seychelles.cc, writing about Anse Citron, places the workings behind that beach instead and says they may or may not be in use during a visit.
In the water
SeyVillas says the water is extremely shallow over a seabed of sand and mud, so swimming is not possible, and reports extreme tides and weed from May to September. The Seychelles Meteorological Authority's September 2026 tide table ran from 0.4 m to 2.0 m, and it puts weed on south and south-east facing beaches between June and September, during the south-east trades. There is no lifeguard and no warning sign here - the Tourism Department's Beach and Sea Safety Guide stations lifeguards only at Beau Vallon, Anse Lazio and Côte d'Or, and gives the Seychelles Life Guard Services on 2529976 for advice on whether a beach is safe to swim.
What is near
A restaurant called Les Rochers is mapped about 460 m east along the coast, on the rock between Anse Bateau and Anse St Sauveur, with a gift shop of the same name beside it (nodes 7223778185 and 1300121417). Nothing else - no toilets, shop or cafe - is mapped within a kilometre. Anse St Sauveur is the beach to carry on to: Tourism Seychelles calls it a good spot for snorkelling and fishing, with calm shallow water suited to families and less confident swimmers, and shade from coconut trees (listing updated 29 September 2024).
