Anse Georgette
A small bay on Praslin's north-west tip, reached on land through the grounds of Constance Lémuria, on foot from Anse Lazio, or by boat. Non-guests should contact the resort first. Deep water close in and generally little seaweed.
The beach
Anse Georgette is a short bay of white sand on the north-west tip of Praslin, backed by takamaka trees and granite boulders. SeyVillas measures it at about 260 m. Tourism Seychelles notes that Constance Lémuria sits between the road and the beach.
Access
The land route runs through the resort. SeyVillas says visitors who are not staying there should tell the hotel before they come, that the hotel sometimes limits numbers, and that the walk down from the hotel takes about 30 minutes; its south-west Praslin page states that prior registration is required. The resort's own website does not publish a procedure for day visitors, so contact Constance Lémuria before setting out.
There are two other ways in. A marked trail of about 3.2 km runs from Anse Lazio, taking around two hours with 120 m of climbing each way. Boats also stop in the bay, and some sailing tours call here.
In the water
SeyVillas notes there is no offshore reef, so the water deepens quickly and children need close supervision. It describes the beach as generally free of seaweed, with normal tides and small waves. Snorkelling gear can be hired at the resort by its guests.
Best for
- Swimming in clear, deeper water (SeyVillas)
- Snorkelling (SeyVillas)
- Combining with the trail walk from Anse Lazio (SeyVillas hiking guide)
Getting there
On land, access is through the grounds of Constance Lémuria (Tourism Seychelles; Wikipedia). SeyVillas advises non-guests to inform the hotel before visiting, notes that the hotel sometimes limits visitor numbers, and describes a walk of about 30 minutes down to the beach; its south-west Praslin guide says prior registration is required. Resort guests get golf-cart transfers (SeyVillas). The Seychelles News Agency (2021) also describes a 30-minute hike from near the resort. Alternatively, walk the 3.24 km trail from Anse Lazio (about two hours, medium difficulty, 120 m up and down; SeyVillas hiking guide) or arrive by boat (SeyVillas; Wikipedia). In December 2013 the Ministry of Environment, Constance Lemuria and a landowner signed a three-year memorandum to maintain a 3 km trail from private land at Mont Plaisir via Mont Chenard to Anse Georgette (Seychelles Nation). Constance Lémuria's website does not publish a day-visitor procedure, so check with the resort before going.
Facilities
No public facilities are described on the beach itself. SeyVillas says non-guests can eat at the resort's restaurants by reservation; Constance Lémuria's website currently lists The Legend, Diva, The Nest and Takamaka among its restaurants (the Pool Deck restaurant named by SeyVillas no longer appears there). Natural shade from trees (SeyVillas).
Swimming
No protective offshore reef, so the water deepens quickly; supervise children and weaker swimmers (SeyVillas). SeyVillas describes normal tides, small waves and generally no seaweed. In 2011 the maritime safety authority imposed a temporary swimming ban here after shark attacks at neighbouring Anse Lazio (Wikipedia).
Snorkelling
SeyVillas rates the bay good for snorkelling; resort guests can hire equipment from Constance Lémuria.
