Anse Consolation
A small, rocky bay near Praslin's southern tip with coral, boulders and rock pools. The water is too shallow for swimming or snorkelling, but the bus stops beside it and the pools suit children exploring the shoreline.

The beach
Anse Consolation lies on Praslin's southernmost stretch of coast, a bay where sand, granite boulders and coral share the shoreline. Its OpenStreetMap outline measures about 300 m between its furthest points in a straight line (way 190431933, last edited 12 November 2012). Tourism Seychelles calls it a beach of coral and rock formations rather than a postcard strand, and rates it worth the trip anyway.
Getting there
The bus passes the beach. Two SPTC stops named Coral Reef are mapped about 125 m and 145 m away and one named Ex Allain Joseph about 125 m, all on route 62, "Mont Plaisir via Consolation", which runs between Zimbabwe and Mont Plaisir (OpenStreetMap relation 13449330, last edited 2 December 2025). Coming from Baie Sainte Anne it calls at Chateau des Feuilles, the Fond Ferdinand Beach Front stops and Hill top first, then carries on to Beach Park, Coco de Mer Hotel and Grand Anse. SPTC's timetable downloads cover Mahé routes only (sptc.sc, 20 September 2026), so check departure times locally.
OpenStreetMap gives the two segments of the Grand'Anse Praslin - Baie Sainte Anne Road either side of the beach a 40 km/h limit and a practical speed of 15 km/h, against 30 km/h further west (ways 689239817 and 37336034, last edited 26 May 2024). SeyVillas says parking is limited to the roadside with no designated car park, and that the road from the Baie Sainte Anne headland is steep and not in good condition.
In the water
Sources disagree about swimming. SeyVillas says the water is too shallow even to bathe in and that the rocks rule out snorkelling. Bonnen Kare Beach Villa, which says it stands on the first line of the beach, tells the Seychelles tourism registry that guests can swim, see the turtles that stay in the area and dive from the granite rocks (listing updated 30 September 2025). The bay is sheltered by rocks and a reef, and the pools give children somewhere to look at shoreline life.
There is no lifeguard and no warning sign here: the Tourism Department's Beach and Sea Safety Guide stations lifeguards only at Beau Vallon, Anse Lazio and Côte d'Or, and gives the Seychelles Life Guard Services on 2529976 for advice on whether a beach is safe to swim. The UK FCDO says beaches can be safe at some times of the year and dangerous at others.
When to go
The Seychelles Meteorological Authority puts the south-east trades from May to October, strongest in August, and says beaches facing south and south-east collect weed washed ashore between June and September. This is one of them. Its September 2026 tide table ran from 0.4 m to 2.0 m, so a flat shore like this one changes shape through the day.
Facilities and what is near
SeyVillas mentions a small shop at one end of the beach, and there is some shade. OpenStreetMap adds a convenience shop about 210 m away (way 115790324) and a place of worship about 230 m (way 115790323), both surveyed in 2011, and a footway added 165 m away in April 2026 (way 1496541515). No toilets, restaurant or cafe is mapped within 1.2 km. In a straight line, the Fond Ferdinand ticket office is about 710 m north, Anse Marie-Louise about 650 m north-east and Anse Bois de Rose about 1.1 km west-north-west.

Route 62, "Mont Plaisir via Consolation", serves the beach. Two SPTC stops named Coral Reef are mapped about 125 m and 145 m away and one named Ex Allain Joseph about 125 m. In OpenStreetMap the Coral Reef platform at 125 m belongs to the outbound relation 13449330 and the other two to the return relation 13449331 (both last edited 2 December 2025). SPTC's timetable downloads cover Mahé only (sptc.sc, checked 20 September 2026). Parking is limited to the roadside with no designated car park, and SeyVillas says the road in from the Baie Sainte Anne headland is steep and not in good condition; OpenStreetMap tags the road segments either side of the beach 40 km/h with a practical speed of 15 km/h (ways 689239817 and 37336034, last edited 26 May 2024).

Snorkelling
SeyVillas says the shallow water and rocks prevent snorkelling here. The Tourism Department's Beach and Sea Safety Guide names only one snorkelling site on Praslin, Anse Petit Cour on the north coast.
