The beach

Anse Consolation lies on Praslin's southernmost stretch of coast, a bay of around 300 m where sand, granite boulders and coral share the shoreline. Tourism Seychelles describes it as a beach of coral and rock formations rather than a classic postcard strand.

Getting there

SeyVillas says the bus is the easiest option, with a stop next to the beach. Parking is limited to the roadside, with no designated car park, and a few houses and self-catering guesthouses are within walking distance. Its south-west Praslin page warns that the road from the Baie Sainte Anne headland is steep and not in good condition.

In the water

The bay is protected by rocks and a coral reef, but SeyVillas says the water is too shallow even to bathe in, and the rocks rule out swimming and snorkelling. The coral pools give children a sheltered place to look at shoreline wildlife.

Facilities

A small shop at one end of the beach is the only facility SeyVillas mentions. There is some shade.

Best for

  • Photography of coral and rock formations (SeyVillas; Tourism Seychelles)
  • Children exploring rock pools (SeyVillas)
  • Quiet sunbathing and picnics (SeyVillas)

Getting there

A bus stop is next to the beach, which SeyVillas calls the easiest way to arrive. Parking is limited to the roadside with no designated car park (SeyVillas). The road from the Baie Sainte Anne headland is steep and not in good condition (SeyVillas south-west Praslin guide).

Facilities

A small shop at one end of the beach offers limited facilities; some shade (SeyVillas).

Swimming

Protected by rocks and a coral reef, but the water is extremely shallow and SeyVillas says swimming is not possible; it also notes tall waves at times.

Snorkelling

SeyVillas says the shallow water and rocks prevent snorkelling here.
