La Modestie Guest House

La Modestie is a small guesthouse in a tropical garden at Amitié, in the Grand Anse area of north-west Praslin. SeyVillas says it first opened in 2013. A resident manager runs it, and the owners say staff are on hand almost around the clock.

There are ten units. The owners put the seven 35 m² superior rooms on the upper floors of the main building, and the three 50 m² self-catering apartments on the ground floor of a garden bungalow. Breakfast is served in a dining room that looks over the garden.

The owners keep five giant tortoises on the property. The manager can arrange excursions, trips to other islands, guided tours and car hire.

Travellers who want a simple base near Grand Anse and the airport, with breakfast and the option of a kitchen.

Seven superior rooms of 35 m² on the upper floors of the main building, with air conditioning, ceiling fan, shower room, tea and coffee facilities, safe, fridge, wardrobe and a seating area; SeyVillas says some can be joined by connecting doors. Three self-catering apartments of 50 m² on the ground floor of a garden bungalow, each with air conditioning, kitchenette, shower room, lounge with sofa bed and a private terrace facing the garden.

Free wifi throughout and private parking on site. SeyVillas lists a communal lounge, garden, luggage storage on request, daily cleaning with towels and linen changed every three days, a laundry service for a fee, table tennis and table football. The guesthouse takes Visa, MasterCard and cash in rupees or euros, according to SeyVillas.

Breakfast is served in a dining room overlooking the garden, and SeyVillas sells stays with breakfast included. The apartments have kitchenettes. SeyVillas lists a grocery store, restaurant and takeaway nearby.

Grand Anse beach is a short walk away; SeyVillas puts it at about 150 m.

At Amitié, in the Grand Anse area of north-west Praslin. The owners say shops, restaurants and the bus stop are within walking distance, and SeyVillas adds the Grand Anse shopping area, a cinema and banks.

The owners say Praslin airport is about a 20 to 25 minute walk or a short taxi ride away. From the ferry jetty they recommend a taxi. A bus stops in front of the property, but buses will not carry large luggage. For short stays the owners recommend hiring a car.

Not on the beach. SeyVillas recommends a hire car because of the location, and the owners advise against cycling round the island. Buses stop outside, but the owners say drivers will not take passengers with large suitcases, so arrivals need a taxi or a walk. SeyVillas notes the property is not suitable for guests with reduced mobility.
