The five-star resorts

Raffles Seychelles opened at Anse Takamaka in 2011 as the first Raffles resort. It has 87 private pool villas, some high on the hillside and some in beachfront gardens, with a spa and butler service. The tourism board says it runs the Sugar Palm Kids Club and holds the Seychelles Sustainable Tourism Label.

Constance Lemuria at Anse Kerlan is described on the tourism board's Praslin page as one of the most prestigious hotels in Seychelles. The resort has villas with private pools, four restaurants and five bars, a spa and what it describes as the only 18-hole championship golf course in Seychelles. From October to February, guests can watch turtles nesting on its beach.

Four-star hotels

The tourism board's data gives four stars to Acajou Beach Resort, Castello Beach Hotel, Paradise Sun Hotel and Village du Pêcheur. Most Praslin listings carry no star rating in the data, so check each property's own description.

How to choose

  • Setting: Raffles is at Anse Takamaka, on the north-east coast near Anse Boudin; Lemuria is in the north-west, about 15 minutes by car from Praslin Island Airport.
  • Beach: Lemuria gives direct access to Anse Georgette and Petite Anse Kerlan. Raffles overlooks Anse Takamaka, which the tourism board describes as a quiet beach that is safe for swimming.
  • Meal plans: the tourism board says all-inclusive packages are relatively uncommon in Seychelles and mostly limited to higher-priced five-star resorts, so check which board options each resort offers.
  • Children: Constance Lemuria's kids' club takes ages 4 to 11, and the tourism board says Raffles offers babysitting alongside its kids' club.
