Boat trips from Praslin and La Digue in Seychelles reach the tortoises of Curieuse, the reefs of St Pierre and the seabird reserves of Cousin and Aride. From La Digue, Ile Cocos is 10 minutes away and Félicité makes a day trip.

From Praslin

  • Curieuse Marine National Park: about 20 minutes from Côte d'Or. The island has hundreds of Aldabra giant tortoises, a mangrove boardwalk at Baie Laraie and a trail to Anse José. Open 9:00 to 17:00 daily; SCR 300 for non-residents over 12. A seasonal turtle trail runs from October to early March for SCR 150 (SPGA, checked 16 September 2026). SPGA's park page gives these hours and this fee; its visitor information page gives 8:00 to 17:00 for marine national parks generally (both checked 20 September 2026).
  • St Pierre: 5 minutes by boat from Curieuse, inside the same marine park, for snorkelling and diving. The tourism board's excursions article describes Curieuse and St Pierre as a combined day with a beach barbecue.
  • Cousin Island Special Reserve: 2 km off Praslin. Tour operators bring visitors out, and the reserve's own boats land them, to keep pests off the island. Open Monday to Friday, 9:45 to 12:30; SCR 600 for non-residents, free for children under 12 (Nature Seychelles, checked 16 September 2026). There are no shops or facilities.
  • Aride: 9 km north of Praslin and open to visitors from October to May. Only Aride's boats may land visitors, and booking is essential (Island Conservation Society, checked 16 September 2026).

From La Digue

  • Ile Cocos Marine National Park: 10 minutes by boat, with trips from La Digue or Praslin. Known for hawksbill turtles, with whale sharks seen around August to November. Open daily until 17:00; SCR 200 for non-residents over 12 (SPGA, checked 16 September 2026).
  • Félicité and the Sisters: the tourism board's excursions article describes full-day trips to Grande Soeur, Petite Soeur, Ile Cocos and Félicité with several snorkelling stops and a barbecue lunch.
  • Transparent kayaks: the tourism board describes a three-hour kayak tour along the coast from Anse Source d'Argent.

Booking and paying

The Seychelles Parks and Gardens Authority says marine park trips are run by local tour operators, yachts and boat charters, and that entry fees are normally included when you book through an operator. On site, SPGA takes card payments only, and tickets can also be bought online. On 16 September 2026 the tourism board listed 47 tour operators and charters on Praslin and 28 on La Digue.

Safety

UK government travel advice (checked 16 September 2026) asks passengers to listen to safety briefings and make sure life jackets are provided, especially on smaller excursion boats. Under SPGA rules (checked 16 September 2026), motorised water sports are banned inside marine parks, and visitors must not fish or collect shells or coral.

Seasons

The Seychelles Meteorological Authority describes rough seas in July and August and the calmest conditions in April.

The Seychelles Parks and Gardens Authority says visitors who book through tour operators normally have entry fees included. Check when booking.
Can children visit Cousin Island?
Yes, and entry is free for children under 12 (Nature Seychelles, checked 16 September 2026). The island has no shops or facilities, so bring water, insect repellent and sun cream.
When can you see whale sharks near La Digue?
The Seychelles Parks and Gardens Authority says whale sharks can be spotted around Ile Cocos from around August to November.
Can I take a boat to Aride in July?
No. The Island Conservation Society opens Aride to visitors from October to May.
