Orique Cultural Site sunset experience
Orique is a private cultural site at Grand Fond in the Zimbabwe hills of Praslin, run by local resident Terry Philoe. It offers private sunset visits and a Creole sunset dinner by reservation, with ocean views from what SeyVillas calls one of the island's best viewpoints.
What it is
Orique sits in the hills of Praslin, in the area known as Zimbabwe. SeyVillas says the name blends the words original and unique. Local resident Terry Philoe runs it to show traditional Seychellois ways of living, building and cooking. SeyVillas says it is not a traditional museum. The owner's listing describes it as a private home.
The setting
SeyVillas says a steep, narrow road leads up to one of the best viewpoints on Praslin. The site has traditional buildings, benches made from dried bamboo and cast-iron cooking pots. OpenStreetMap marks the Zimbabwe peak nearby at 250 m.
Sunset Experience
The Tourism Board listing, updated 16 September 2026, describes a private evening visit. You arrive from 5pm, receive a welcome drink and light island snacks, and stay until after sunset. You can bring your own wine or champagne. The listing says it runs daily by reservation.
Sunset Dinner Experience
The dinner is also private and by reservation only. The listing's menu includes grilled fish, octopus curry in fresh coconut milk, lentils, papaya chutney, a mixed salad, rice and ladob, a coconut milk dessert. Water is included, and you may bring your own wine.
Booking
Both experiences need an advance booking. The listing gives WhatsApp or a phone call on +248 2571879 as the preferred contact.
Getting there
The road up is steep and narrow. A bus stop named Zimbabwe Turning Point sits on the road below, according to OpenStreetMap. Ask the host about directions or transport when you book.
