Beachfront hotels on La Digue are on the west and north coasts: a waterfront hotel at La Passe, the island's first hotel on the beach at Anse Réunion, and properties near Anse Sévère and Anse Patates.
Where they are
- La Passe: Le Nautique Luxury Waterfront Hotel says its rooms are steps from the sea, with a waterfront restaurant. The tourism board's self-catering article describes a small property across from the beach here.
- Anse Réunion: La Digue Island Lodge describes its setting as a sandy stretch of beach at Anse Réunion, with A-frame chalets built from local takamaka wood, steps from the beach. The tourism board says the beach here is calm, with shallow entry.
- Anse Sévère: Le Domaine de L'Orangeraie gives its address as Anse Sévère, where the tourism board describes shallow water, reef snorkelling and sunsets over Praslin.
- Anse Patates: the tourism board places Patatran Village close to this beach at the island's northern tip, with calm water for swimming and snorkelling, plenty of shade and the road close by.
The east coast
The tourism board describes the east coast as wilder, and Grand Anse as having deep water and rough seas in the south-east monsoon, and says it attracts few visitors.
What beachfront means
Some properties sit across a road from the beach, as the tourism board notes of one self-catering property in La Passe. Ask how far your room is from the water.
Choosing by season
UK government travel advice (checked 16 September 2026) says west coasts are generally unsafe for swimming during the north-west monsoon, around December to March. From June to September, the Seychelles Meteorological Authority says sheltered west and north-west beaches are more pleasant than those facing south and south-east.
