Anse Pierrot

Anse Pierrot is a small, shaded cove inside L'Union Estate on La Digue's south-west coast, about 1 km south of Anse Source d'Argent. Its shallow, clear water suits paddling and snorkelling; there are no facilities, and the beach can vanish at high tide.

What it is

Anse Pierrot is a short run of sand in the south-west of La Digue, beyond Anse Source d'Argent and still within L'Union Estate. OpenStreetMap maps it as about 64 metres end to end (way 190436991, last edited 16 November 2023); SeyVillas gives 70 m by 10 m. A large glacis, a sloping granite slab, rises behind the beach, and trees along the back give shade.

Getting there

You pay the estate entry fee to reach it: SCR 150 for foreign nationals, a day pass, with a ticket bought after 16:30 valid the next day and a reduced rate for stays of more than five days; the estate is open 06:00 to 18:00 daily, including public holidays (lunion.estate, checked 20 September 2026). The Tourism Board's listing for L'Union Estate Company Ltd, updated 2 September 2026, publishes no rate, while its page for the beach still quotes 100 rupees. There is no bus on La Digue — SPTC runs its buses on Mahé and Praslin (sptc.sc, read 20 September 2026) — and the estate puts the ride from the jetty at about 15 minutes by bike. Bike stands and parking are at Anse Source d'Argent.

The walk south

One path is mapped beyond Anse Source d'Argent: OpenStreetMap way 385555447, surface ground, about 1.8 km long, starting just beyond the south end of Anse Source d'Argent and running past Anse Pierrot, within 3 metres of the sand, and on past Anse aux Cèdres and Anse Bonnet to end within a few metres of Anse Marron (last edited 27 July 2026). In a straight line the Anse Source d'Argent sand ends about 730 metres north of Anse Pierrot, Anse aux Cèdres lies about 140 metres on along the coast and Anse Marron about 840 metres. The Tourism Board and SeyVillas both describe the low-tide alternative of walking along the coral from Anse Source d'Argent, which calls for reef shoes.

The water and the tide

The sea here is clear and shallow, suited to paddling and snorkelling. Both sources warn that at high tide the water can reach the tree line and the beach disappears, which also affects the walk back over the coral; the Seychelles Meteorological Authority publishes monthly tide forecasts at meteo.sc (read 20 September 2026). SeyVillas notes seaweed during the south-east trade winds, while the Meteorological Authority's climate guide places that weed on the south and south-east facing beaches between June and September and calls the west and north-west coasts the more pleasant ones in those months. The UK Foreign Office's Seychelles travel advice, written for the country as a whole, says the west coast is unsafe for swimming during the north-west monsoon, December to March (read 20 September 2026). The Tourism Department's Beach and Sea Safety Guide records warning signs at four La Digue beaches, not this one, and lifeguards at Beau Vallon, Anse Lazio and Côte d'Or only (tourism.gov.sc, read 20 September 2026).

Who comes here

Most people pass through on the way to Anse Marron; Sunny Trail Guide runs that walk as a six to seven hour trip ending back at Anse Source d'Argent, and reverses it when high tide falls in the afternoon (sunnytrailguide.net, read 20 September 2026). There is nothing on the sand here. Inside the estate, OpenStreetMap maps the Lanbousir restaurant about 24 metres from the shore, with toilets, a shower and bicycle parking (nodes 2010681429, 6173576486, 11838855719 and 11838855720); SeyVillas puts Lanbousir about 1.4 km away. Carry water.

From there, one path is mapped south, surface ground, about 1.8 km to Anse Marron and passing within 3 m of Anse Pierrot (OpenStreetMap way 385555447, last edited 27 July 2026); at low tide you can instead walk along the coral, wearing reef shoes. Check tide times first: high tide can cover the beach, and the Seychelles Meteorological Authority publishes monthly tide forecasts at meteo.sc.

Facilities

None on the beach. Inside the estate, OpenStreetMap maps the Lanbousir restaurant about 24 m from the shore, with toilets, a shower and bicycle parking (nodes 2010681429, 6173576486, 11838855719 and 11838855720, read 20 September 2026); SeyVillas puts Lanbousir about 1.4 km from Anse Pierrot. No lifeguard: the Tourism Department's Beach and Sea Safety Guide stations lifeguards at Beau Vallon, Anse Lazio and Côte d'Or only (tourism.gov.sc, read 20 September 2026). Plenty of natural shade from trees.

Swimming

Shallow, clear water suited to paddling. The beach can disappear at high tide, with water reaching the tree line (Tourism Board; SeyVillas), so check the tide before walking down; the Seychelles Meteorological Authority publishes monthly tide forecasts at meteo.sc (read 20 September 2026). Snorkelling

The Tourism Board and SeyVillas both describe the shallow water as suitable for snorkelling. The Tourism Department's Beach and Sea Safety Guide names two snorkelling sites on La Digue, Anse Sévère and Anse Marron, the latter about 840 m further south in a straight line (tourism.gov.sc, read 20 September 2026).
