Anse Pierrot

Anse Pierrot is a small, shaded cove inside L'Union Estate on La Digue's south-west coast, about 1 km south of Anse Source d'Argent. Its shallow, clear water suits paddling and snorkelling; there are no facilities, and the beach can vanish at high tide.

What it is

Anse Pierrot is a short run of sand in the south-west of La Digue, about 1 km beyond Anse Source d'Argent and still within L'Union Estate. A large glacis, a sloping granite slab, rises behind the beach, and trees along the back give plenty of shade.

Getting there

You pay the estate entry fee to reach it (SCR 150 for foreign nationals; L'Union Estate, checked 16 September 2026), then continue south past Anse Source d'Argent. The Tourism Board and SeyVillas both describe the low-tide route: walking along the coral from Anse Source d'Argent, which calls for reef shoes. Bikes stay behind at Anse Source d'Argent.

The water

The sea here is clear and shallow, suited to paddling and snorkelling. Watch the tide closely. Both sources warn that at high tide the water can reach the tree line and the beach disappears, which also affects the walk back over the coral. SeyVillas notes seaweed during the south-east trade winds.

Who comes here

Most people pass through on their way to Anse Marron, so Anse Pierrot is often quiet. There are no facilities on the beach; the nearest food and toilets are back in the estate. Bring water and plan your visit around low tide so you can get there and back without wading.

Getting there

Inside L'Union Estate: pay the estate entry fee (SCR 150 for foreign nationals per the estate's official site, checked 16 September 2026; the Tourism Board and SeyVillas pages still quote an older 100-rupee figure). From Anse Source d'Argent, about 1 km south; at low tide walk along the coral between the two beaches, wearing reef shoes. Bike stands and parking are at Anse Source d'Argent (SeyVillas). Check tide times first: high tide can cover the beach.

Facilities

None on the beach. Estate amenities, including a restaurant, are a walk away. Plenty of natural shade from trees.

Swimming

Shallow, clear water suited to paddling. The beach can disappear at high tide, with water reaching the tree line (Tourism Board; SeyVillas). SeyVillas notes seaweed during the south-east trade winds.

Snorkelling

The Tourism Board and SeyVillas both describe the shallow water as suitable for snorkelling.
