Anse Lazio to Anse Georgette trail

What it is

This footpath crosses the hills of Praslin's north-west tip from Anse Lazio to Anse Georgette. It gives walkers a route to Anse Georgette that starts from the beach at Anse Lazio rather than from the Constance Lémuria resort.

The route

Park at Anse Lazio. The path starts on the left side of the beach and leads to its back section, then climbs into palm forest. After the first hill you reach a house with a driveway. Walk in front of the house to the road, then look for a small path on the right beside the road and take the right fork after about 15 metres. From here, signs point to Anse Georgette. The path crosses small streams and climbs a second hill with views back to Anse Lazio and the nearby islands. After about 2.5 km, take the right fork and follow the occasional arrows down to a viewpoint and a swing above Anse Georgette, then on to the beach.

Getting back

SeyVillas says you can return the same way or cross the beach into the Constance Lémuria grounds and be collected there. SeyVillas' south-west Praslin page says Anse Georgette is otherwise reached only by sea or through the resort grounds, with prior registration, so arrange any pick-up in advance.

The Mont Plaisir route

A separate trail of about 3 km runs from Mont Plaisir over Mont Chenard to Anse Georgette. In December 2013 Seychelles Nation reported a three-year agreement between the environment ministry, Constance Lémuria and the landowner to maintain it. The article said the path starts on private land. Check it is open before you set out.

Guided option

Nature Senses Tours lists a half-day guided walk from Anse Georgette to Anse Lazio with the Tourism Board.

What to bring

SeyVillas suggests setting off around 9am, in hiking shoes rather than flip-flops. Carry at least 2 litres of water each, plus insect repellent, sunscreen, a hat, snacks and swimwear.
